Irmak
Irmak Canevi graduated from the Slade School of Fine Arts in 2008 and still lives and works in Istanbul. In his practice Canevi keeps from representation and looks to discover unlikely ways in which a painting can be perceived through his experiments at variable junctions of colour, texture, space and presentation.
Aslı
Order and chaos, to settle and to flee, to conform and to rebel, but foremost her desperate desire to hold on to a feeling of transience… To give up, to run away from yet to get caught by one’s self… Such conflicts that shape the life of Asli Aktug, who lived an unsolicited life in “exile” since her childhood and is still a resident of Paris, consistently reappear in her work as well. Aktug, an involuntary native of Ankara and a true Istanbulite at heart, comes across in her drawings, collages, photographs, videos and conceptual work which bear traces of the fabric of her life inspired by her history in various parts and regions of the World as a multi-faceted artist.
Dilara
After starting her 11 year advertising career in New York, Dilara Z. Moran said ciao to it in istanbul. She decided to give herself to more social projects, and founded oyver.org ( vote.org)with 3 other friends. She continues this path with degisimingucu.org (thepowerofchange.org). She also decided that she needs to "eat" somehow, and became a brand consultant, and is still looking for a name for her new company.
Samet
A lover of music, Samet Bilen, is continuing his studies at Anadolu University- School of Tourism and Hotel Management. While in school in order to be close to his love- music and practicing his future career, he has been working at the best music venues of Istanbul. The biggest supporter/helper of BANABAK, he has taken on everything from cleaning the paintings to organizing the afterparty.
Mr. Doğan
Dogan Timurlenk, the owner of Timurlenk Cam founded by his father in 1950, has always been a true patron of the artist through his considerable collection of thousands of paintings accumulated over the years. In his generous support for Banabak Timurlenk, easily one the most important figures in Asmalimescit, now shares his passion for the arts with the rest of us.
